Sound Distillery
The first-ever Sound Distillery has just wrapped. 10 artists from around the globe met our Sound Distiller, Anderson .Paak, for a week in the Irish countryside, to discuss their sound and inspiration, and collaborate to create new music that connects with global audiences. What transpired was even greater than anticipated. 5 brand new songs. 5 amazing live performances. And 1 incredible week of keeping tempo and making toasts.
Seedhe Maut/ Shekhinah
Indian rap meets South African R’n’B. Seedhe Maut has teamed up with Shekhinah to lay their bi-lingual lyrics over Durban’s unique flavour of Afro Rhythm & Blues.
Our
Collaborators
The Sound Distillery brought artists from all around the world together, to connect, collaborate, and create new music. Check out the artists who joined forces to work on a new song together.
Branko/ Ian Hooper
What happens when pop-folk gets a jolt of electronic dance? We’re not sure, but Branko and Ian Hooper are convinced that whatever happens, it’s going to move you in more ways than one
Claudia Tan/ Kaiit
Claudia Tan is taking a Pop at Kaiit’s Soul. This pairing is ready to mix Ariana Grande with Amy Winehouse in a ‘influences cocktail’ and toast to whatever pours out.
Lady Donli / L’rain
When experimental pop is instrumental (literally) in producing some of the best alternative R&B, you can be confident that Lady Donli‘s Nigerian alte background and L’Rain’s taste for experimentation are a match made in heaven.
Aoife Nessa Frances/ Freak Slug
Alt-punk/surf rock and laidback alt-folk, collide to form a wave of catchy melodies ready to wash over you. Aoife Nessa Frances and Freak Slug are making it look easy.
Branko/ Ian Hooper:
A song of nostalgia, a longing to reconnect with childhood friends and memories, to return to times of innocence. You can almost feel the warmth of the sun on your back when listening to it.
“Loved working on this song with Ian while surrounded by so much creativity, talent and a lot of amazing tools. Was very happy with how the production and Ian’s input really complemented each other perfectly” – Branko
“‘Go Back’ is a song of nostalgia, a longing to reconnect with childhood friends and memories, to return to times of innocence. You can almost feel the warmth of the sun on your back when listening to it.” – Ian Hooper

CLAUDIA & Kaiit
Prepare to add a new song to your old school playlist. A modern track reminiscent of R&B’s pop height. Listen now.
“My verse on ‘Draw Me’ was written in 3rd person, talking to myself, almost like someone looking over your shoulder, at your phone.
Seeing how much you’re on it, and how it makes you feel when being on social media for too long. It’s also of a reminder of how when we are online, we paint our own picture of people, an assumption of what we see and vice versa.
What type of picture have you drawn of me?” – Kaiit
“Draw Me is about the confidence to step away from the validation of that social media gives to you and your art. It forces you to zoom out and see things from a wider perspective, and not fixate on the small things.” – CLAUDIA
AOIFE NESSA FRANCES
/ FREAK SLUG
“Bunny” is a song by Freak Slug and Aoife Nessa Frances that tells the story of a man who is blind to his own toxic behaviours, unable to comprehend why love continues to elude him. Dreamy melodies and hypnotic guitar lines intertwine, punctuated by percussive tambourine.
Lady Donli / L’rain
This up-tempo afro beat track is sure to make your body move. Get grooving here.
“‘Not Your Mate’ is a celebration of what happens when great minds come together. It’s bouncy, fun, and full of life. For me, it’s a reminder of the magic in true collaboration—how working with others can bring out the best in all of us. The song captures a sense of joy and creativity that comes from blending different talents and ideas.” – Lady Donli
“Working with Lady Donli is going to change my relationship to music-making forever. Her approach to collaboration and music-making is so process-oriented, communal, and fun! I learned so much from her. This song came together inspired by the African dance music we both love so much.” – L’Rain
Seedhe Maut / Shekhinah
“The song for me speaks on our different cultures and backgrounds, we had to be disrupters first in our own world to even be afforded this opportunity with Jameson and being placed in our pairs. This collaboration needed us to be open to adapting each others vibes languages and sounds. The mix of Hindi , English, trap and Rnb really is crazy if you think about it so I think I kind of just sang about us being “chameleons” and everyone that ever doubted us ‘comedians’ “. – Shekhinah
